House Of Dragon: Game Of Thrones Prequel Adds New Cast Member
House Of Dragon, the prequel to Game Of Thrones, which revolves around the House of Targaryen, has found its King Viserys in Paddy Considine. We saw the actor most recently in the thriller miniseries The Third Day, along with Jude Law and Katherine Waterson. Peaky Blinders fans might also recognize him as Father Hughes, the immoral priest from season three.
Not much is known about the series except that it is set 300 years before the events that take place in Game Of Thrones. It will focus mainly on the Targaryen family and Paddy Considine is the first of the Targaryens to be cast in the show.
Viserys I Targaryen, as announced by the verified Twitter page of Game Of Thrones, is a good-natured and sensitive man, who was selected to be the successor of The Old King Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. Season one of House Of Dragon will mainly look at how a great man failed to be a great king.
Apart from Viserys, a few other characters are scheduled to appear in the show. His daughter Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, who was the chosen heir of the king and was supposed to be the first Queen of Westeros; Queen Alicent Hightower, Viserys’s second wife and step-mother of Rhaenyra, who also had three children of her own with the king; Aegon II Targaryen, a stepson of the king who begins a civil war by challenging Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.
The show is being created by George R.R Martin and Ryan Condal. Condal will also act as the showrunner along with Michael Sapochnik. No premiere date has been announced yet but House Of Dragons is expected to drop in 2022.
