Is Ryosuke Kira’s Football Career At Blue Lock Coming To An End?

Spoilers Follow! There are Blue Lock spoilers on this page (Manga).

On October 9, 2022, the most eagerly anticipated sports anime of the season released its first episode. It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that everyone in the community is extremely involved in this series after the debut.

In order to swiftly set up the world building, a ton of exposition was thrust in our faces during the first episode of Blue Lock. Throughout the course of the anime, a number of young strikers’ careers will come to an end; Ryosuke Kira may be the first.

The forward from Matsukaze, Ryosuke Kira, will be the first to depart the “Blue Lock” program. This will happen as a direct result of losing the initial game of tag that Ego Jinpachi put up. Yoichi tags him, and he is eliminated.

Unfortunately, Ryosuke will never again have the chance to represent Japan.

The sports anime that we have seen throughout the years will not compare to Blue Lock in any way. 300 high school football players from all around Japan have assembled and are separated into several teams, as seen in the first episode.

Ego goes through the match’s rules with them, which are effectively a game of tag. The player who still controls the ball at the end of the allotted 136 seconds will be dismissed from the competition.

Igaguri, the 300th player, starts as “it” or “oni” since he has the lowest rating.During the game, the ball strikes Isagi, who is now being chased.

He intends to attack Igaguri when he notices that he is hurt, but something inside of him tells him that the only way he will become stronger is by defeating a tougher opponent. The strongest one, Kira, is the one he instantly targets.

The ball lands in front of Isagi with 11 seconds left, and he strikes Kira. Here, the anime ends.

Let’s just say that I read the following chapter of the manga because I had to know if Kira would be expelled or whether Ego was only using psychological tricks to get me to read it.

Ryosuke Kira’s Reaction

Ryosuke Kira reacts in the most anticipated manner after learning that his football career is finished. He refers to himself as a national treasure and bemoans the expulsion of the less qualified Isagi and Igaguri.

In addition, he challenges the value of using a tag match as a football exercise. He asserts that there is in fact no relationship and that it is illogical for the players to be sent out on the basis of it.

Ego discusses the significance of this tag bout and how it is intended to showcase skills like striking prowess and spatial awareness.

Kira is vindictive, but he is forced to leave. This very excellent anime focuses on developing the egoism of the participants.

This is absolutely in contrast to what we have seen in all other sports anime up to this point, where they have always highlighted the value of team play.

Players won’t win games using the “power of friendship,” for sure. Despite the fact that we like previous sports anime, this one will be a breath of new air.

Blue Lock

The Blue Lock manga series was created in collaboration by Yusuke Nomura and Muneyuki Kaneshiro. The Weekly Shnen Magazine from Kodansha has been serializing it since August 2018. Blue Lock won the shnen category of the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in 2021.

In the opening scene of the film, Japan is eliminated from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start scouting high school players for the 2022 Cup.

The forward Isagi Youichi was invited to this program not long after his team misses out on going to Nationals because he passed to a less talented teammate.

Ego Jinpachi, their coach, plans to “destroy Japanese loser football” by implementing a radical new training program that segregates 300 teenage attackers into a facility resembling a jail dubbed “Blue Lock.”
