Is Orochi alive? How did he survive after Kaidou beheaded him?
Orochi is like one of those pests that keep appearing repeatedly to cause mayhem. You might have thought that Kaido has gotten rid of this detestable shogun once and for all, but episode 1025 of One Piece proves otherwise.
Orochi is back, and this time with even more anger suppressed in his two feet body.
Kaido beheaded Orochi in episode 994 after the latter showed outrage against Kaido’s plan. So, how did he arise from the dead?
The secret behind Orochi’s survival lies in the devil fruit he had consumed, Hebi Hebi no Mi. Because of this fruit, Orochi can transform into a mythical snake-like beast called Yamata no Orochi.
Yamata no Orochi has eight heads and an equal number of lives, thus granting Orochi eight lives in total. When Kaido killed the fake shogun, he had only slain a single life. Orochi still has seven more lives.
As Orochi makes an appearance in episode 1025, you can see that he is seething in rage and putting fire to every corner of the castle. Fukurokuju helps him by silencing anyone who witnesses the act.
Thus, Orochi is alive owing to the eight lives that have been granted to him by his devil fruit. He will not die unless he is beheaded or killed eight times in total.
One Piece Chapter 1048: Is Orochi Dead for Good this Time?
This is not the last you have seen of Orochi. He is going to get eight lives worth of hammering soon. So let’s see how much longer this oppressor stays alive.
