The 2020 Japanese Film Festival (JFF) has been shifted online due to the pandemic—it will now be held from December 4-13. A total of 30 Japanese movies would be screened for free throughout the festival—with three movies being available each day. Those interested can create a free account here.
The festival will be happening in December across the following countries: the USA, Australia, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, and South Korea. Canada, Mexico, and Brazil will be having theirs in February 2021.
Kaoru Miyamoto, the Director-General of the Jap an Foundation New Delhi, said that “We are thrilled to screen the 2020 edition of the festival on an absolutely new, exciting, and bigger scale. Keeping consumer safety utmost, the virtual platform will help us reach a wider audience base.
Popularity of Japanese content has been distinctly growing in the Indian landscape which has been fuelled by the recent increase in online content consumption. We are bringing the best of Japanese films which have garnered critical praise along with audience love to offer an enriching experience to our Indian viewers. We are confident the festival will be successful and bigger with the online platform.”
