Jujutsu Kaisen Fans Get Worried for Mangaka After Chapter 150’s Sketchy Art

It is no surprise that mangakas are always under constant pressure about releasing new chapters, and fans often get concerned for the author’s health. Recently, Jujutsu Kaisen readers and fans showed concern for Gege Akutami.

In the recent chapters of the manga, fans have noticed that Akutami’s work and art have been sloppy. Some are concerned about him overworking, while others have their own theories too.

A hashtag #芥見先生 (Akutami Sensei or Mr. Akutami) started trending in Japan after the release of the latest Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 150. Fans noticed sketchy work in two of the pages and got concerned as to why it happened.

The recently released chapter had two roughly drawn pages of the fight between Maki and the Hei, the Zen’in clan’s strongest squad.

The manga panels looked like rough sketches drawn in a hurry and got many readers worried about Akutami’s health if he’s overworking and stressing himself out.

While this is one side of the story, many other people had a totally different opinion on the matter.

Meanwhile, few fans thought this was an intentional technique to surprise the fans or make them more invested.

Some believed the shift was to make readers feel the essence of the panel and how brutal the fight was.

It is said that anime and manga sometimes drop the quality of the art in between for various reasons and people speculated how it can be one of those moments as well.

Whatever the reason may be, everyone wants the mangaka to take a break which he rightfully deserves. Some fans were even reminded of My Hero Academia’s Cultural Fest Arc.

During this arc, the manga panels were roughly drawn, almost as if the mangaka accidentally published the wrong pages. That got fans worried that the artist is overworking to meet the deadlines.

We strongly urge our readers and fellow otakus to try and buy the art they’re consuming, be it manga or anime.

That way, the manga artists won’t get exploited like this and will get the pay they deserve for the content they give us. For instance, when the Demon Slayer movie Mugen Train broke box office records but the creators were still underpaid for their work.

We really hope Akutami sensei takes care of himself and gets the long break he deserves.
