Jujutsu Kaisen Manga will be on an indefinite break from Weekly Shonen Jump’s issue 29 which is scheduled to be released on 20th June 2021. The manga will be releasing a Nine-page chapter this week and will be absent from future issues for an unspecified period of time.
The decision was made considering the poor health conditions of Jujutsu Kaisen’s writer Gege Akutami.
A note that has been released by the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department says ‘ “To our readers. Thank you for always reading Jujutsu Kaisen. Due to the poor physical condition of Akutami Gege, Jujutsu Kaisen will be absent for some time from the next issue onward. Akutami wanted to continue writing, but after…”.
On this issue, Gege Akutami added that he respects the decision of the editorial department. His physical condition might not be at 100% but he is not seriously sick and also mentioned that his mental health is also completely fine. He further added that please do not worry about him and he is sorry that readers will have to wait some time. ‘Once I come back, I’ll do my best with the serialization’.
Also from mangaka’s note, the break should take around a month but nothing is confirmed yet. Well, Jujutsu Kaisen is delivering chapters continuously every week for a long time without a break and other things need consideration too.
We hope Gege takes his time to recover and return to his best physical and mental condition. The manga and the fans can wait. We all are grateful for entertaining us tirelessly.
