Jujutsu Kaisen to End in 2 Years!? Gege Akutami Gives Uncertain Statement
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the legendary manga that is Jujutsu Kaisen.
Created by mangaka Gege Akutami in 2018, Jujutsu Kaisen saw a huge popularity boom in 2020 and followed it up with an anime adaptation.
The story about a high schooler cursed with powers made the whole otaku community fall in love with Jujutsu Kaisen.
Although Covid-19 did impact the sudden boost of interest in manga and anime, Jujutsu Kaisen had the perfect formula for a hit shonen manga.
It included the usual tropes of the protagonist suddenly thrown into a world of magical powers, a motivational guide, friends that have your back and powerful super villains.
Gege’s beautiful representation of the same old trope had us fans hooked to it in an instant.
But, now Gege Akutami has stated in an interview the sad truth about Jujutsu Kaisen’s future.
On 27th February Gege Akutami appeared in a TV program interview called the Mangadō Kobayashi Manga Taishō 2020 Grand Prix Akutami Gege “Jujutsu Kaisen” –Akai-.
The interview was specially done to discuss Jujutsu Kaisen’s major popularity and how Gege felt about the newfound success.
But when asked about Jujutsu Kaisen’s future he replied by saying the manga will probably end within two years.
But also added he was not confident with the estimation. He described the manga’s story progression as if those were train stops to reach Mt. Fuji.
While the train ride has 9 total stops, Gege explained Jujutsu Kaisen’s story had already reached the 6th or 7th stop.

Gege added that the manga’s end has sort of been decided already in his head. He knows how each character’s end will play out but is still unsure about Sukuna’s ending.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 1 is currently airing with Episode 23 set to be released on March 20. While the manga is on chapter 142 which is following up the Shibuya Incident arc with Yuuji now marked as a wanted criminal.
Although we don’t know when and how Jujutsu Kaisen will end, all I can say is, whenever it does, we fans will never forget this masterpiece.
