Kakegurui Live-action Sequel Film Reveals New Teaser: Featuring Makuro Shikigami

Initially, a manga by Homura Kawamoto, then an anime, and now a live-action movie series, Kakegurui inherits the anime’s bold aesthetic and adapts to each platform pretty well.

I call it a “movie series” because the franchise has already announced a sequel to its first live-action movie, and it seems that the production company is betting a lot over this ‘gambling story’.

On Monday, the official website for the Kakegurui live-action films started streaming a teaser video for Eiga Kakegurui Part 2, the next sequel film. The film premieres in May 2021.

The teaser only introduces us to the new shrewd gambler Makuro Shikigami, played by Ryūsei Fujii. The video ends with Yumeko held at gunpoint, and a gunshot is heard.

All the other cast members are reprising their roles, and once again, Tsutomu Hanabusa is directing the film.

The upcoming film is expected to add new elements to the original story and even surpass its prequel film in terms of popularity (since Makuro Shikigami is in this film).

We, the anime viewers, are already aware of its immense popularity in our anime world. Now, it will be interesting to see how well its live-action version performs on the big screen.

Apart from this film, Katsura Saiki’s Kakegurui Twins manga spinoff is inspiring a new live-action series that will premiere this year. Meanwhile, we still don’t have an official release date for the anime’s third season.
