Kijin Gentoushou Teases Anime Adaptation Based on the Novel Series

No matter how much anime and manga we get based on Japan’s Edo period, we crave more content set in the era of prosperity. Kijin Gentoushou is one of the finest works set based on the Edo period with a thrilling twist.

The story combines history with the concept of time travel and fabricates a tale that is engaging and doesn’t seem overwhelming. This underrated series will make you explore the time between the Edo and Heisei period like never before.

The novel recently published the first volume of its manga adaptation by Yu Satomi and is now venturing out to other forms of media.

Futabasha released a PV for Kijin Gentoushou manga that teases the upcoming anime of the series in the end. Further details will be revealed by the franchise later.

The PV is a compilation of various scenes from the manga in motion. The whole PV is narrated by Taku Yashiro, who has also voiced Vulcan Joseph in Fire Force.

The PV ends by teasing a person who is styling a sword while entering a shrine. The video closes upon them as they turn around to reveal a fiery red demon eye.

The story follows the protagonist Jinta, a master swordsman appointed as the bodyguard to a priestess. He is given the task to defeat a mysterious demon who tells Jinta of a puzzling future, the Heisei period.

The Heisei period of Japan that went from 1989 to 2019 is the modern era. This is where the time-traveling aspect of the story comes in as the protagonists, Jints and the Demon, travel from Edo to the Heisei era.

[Bunko version of TV commercial]

The TV commercial that started broadcasting yesterday looks like this. #Taku Yashiro’s voice is lovely! By the way, it will switch to the comic CM at the timing of the comic release in September. Currently, we are working hard, but this one is also cool, and I’m looking forward to the release!

Another short commercial features Jinta and the mysterious demon who looks like a little girl in the shrine. In the next instance, we see a man in a formal suit with a sword on the steps of the same shrine.

The story also drifts to a more philosophical aspect as the protagonist wonders why they wield the blade. To put it simply, this line sums up the entire story.
