Today we are here to discuss the latest Kingdom Chapter 642. Fans have been patiently waiting for this, for a long time and the next chapter is just around the corner.
Since the author is taking his time to figure out the future developments, it has been a long and tedious wait of nearly one month. Author is taking a well deserved break.
The Kingdom is a weekly manga and on top of that, it is extremely detailed – not to mention all the battle strategies, the Shiji reading, and the multiple plot points. The artwork is intricate and well spread. That is definitely hard to maintain for one person.
However, our wait is nearly over and Hara is about to grace us with a new chapter. It will be a new beginning for all of us. A new location, a new title, a new army and a new war. Our same old heroes will be awarded with accolades and become, new men to look up to, new men who will go down history!
By now, everyone realizes that a new Story arc is coming. However we believe, we won’t reach the new arc until late June or until July even. The Zhao Invasion arc seems over with the end of the war, but the awards ceremony is a part of the arc. We expect to see a very elaborate awards ceremony in Kingdom 642 and a couple of light-hearted, slice of life-y chapters next, to ease the transition to the next major story arc.

Kingdom 641 Recap:
Chapter 641: A Pressing Issue
A triumphant Hi-Shin Unit finally reaches Kanyou City, cheered on by the citizens. Everyone showers praise on them. King Sei and Chancellor Shoubunkun look on, seeing Shin bathed in glory. King Sei decides to not meet Shin then, as it was truly, Shin’s moment.
There was still time till the awards ceremony, so the soldiers dispersed. The men of the Hi Shin unit decides to go and see Shin’s house, most of them expecting a grand mansion. They are all shocked to death, when they saw the small hut Shin lives in. A 5000 man commander living in a hut befitting a servant was a vision to behold.
However, the surprise is yet to come. Just beside the shack, which is Shin’s original home, there is the grand mansion. Shin had paid Denyuu to find builders and using that money, they built Shin a beautiful, multistoried, multibuilding house!
A celebration took place, families included. A great party went on, with plenty of food and drinks and merriment. In the midst, Shin is summoned to the castle, even though the awards ceremony is far away. Shin’s men speculate, that since he was originally a servant, he will not be promoted to General. However Shin has no worry. He even agrees when Ten wants to tag along.
At the castle, Shin finally meets Sei. Sei can’t finds words that would be enough to show Shin, how grateful he is. However, there is a problem with Shin becoming the General. Sei informs Shin that in order to be General, one needs a whole name. But Shin has no family name – he is just ‘Shin’.
Sei offers to bestow a family name to Shin. Shin’s first choice is ‘Ei’, the family name of the King himself. Shoubunkun immediately shoots the idea down. Sei cannot come up with a name himself either. He then remembers that he had the same issue with Hyou. Hyou chose the name ‘Li’, or ‘Ri’, which means ‘plum’, because Sei oftens eats that.
Shin readily agrees to take Hyou’s name. He had promised Hyou that their names will go down in history. So, from henceforth, Shin of the Hi Shin unit, is granted the name of Ri Shin, by King Ei Sei.
The name Li Xin, or Ri Shin, survived more than two thousand years after the death of the man. He became a legend and his deeds were studied by future generations.
Kingdom Chapter 642 Spoilers:
Now named Ri Shin, our protagonist will definitely become a General. In Kingdom Chapter 642, Shin will achieve his lifelong dream! But his path doesn’t end there. His true goal is to be the greatest general. So after becoming General himself, he will have to keep gathering accomplishments and become a Great General.
In the war against Zhao, Shin has defeated multiple prominent figures – Gyou’un, Gaku Ei, Jo Rin, Jo Shou, Chou Ga Ryuu. However, they all fade in comparison to Shin biggest achievement – Hou Ken, one of Zhao’s Three Great Heavens. Hou Ken was a great general who was able to slay Great Generals Ou Ki, Kyou and Duke Hyou. And Shin was the one able to cleave him into two. So the rewards meant for Shin, are truly immense.
Apart from Shin, both Ou Hon and Mou Ten have shown enough prowess to be promoted to General. Both of them far surpass Shin in strategic intellect and have major contribution. General Heki was able to prove his worth too and he might become General of more men. Kingdom 642 or 643 will show them receiving fitting accolades.
In the Zhao War, Qin used mountain tribes alongside its own. This should bring about far more friendliness and good relations between people of the plains and the people of the mountains.
Kingdom 642 will probably capture the arrival of Generals Yotanwa, Kan Ki and Ou Sen. They will receive the highest honor of all, along with great wealth, land and nobility. The armies will be rewarded handsomely. King Sei has a long and tedious ceremony ahead. We must also remember that Chief Shouheikun will receive his share of prizes for being the mastermind behind the operation.
We must also remember Qi. They helped Qin when the situation seemed hopeless for everyone. Not only does this cement their relations, Qi and its King are to receive huge amounts of wealth from Qin. For Zhao, they were the last nail on the coffin.
Kingdom Manga Chapter 642 might also show us the fate of Ri Boku. Even though he is one of the Greatest Generals, under a stupid ruler, he is constantly held back. We believe he is facing death punishment. We also believe that he will survive as the Prince and other Generals of Zhao will come to his rescue. Without Ri Boku, Zhao is as good as defeated. We might also get to see if the vacant positions of Zhao’s Three Great Heavens is filled or not.
Also, there is one issue that has been concerning us all. Shin will become a general soon, and out of all the men in Qin, he is one of the strongest – his strength is probably on par with the Great Generals. But his strategic prowess is very little. His instincts are getting sharper by every battle but there is time till he reaches Duke Hyou’s level. Always depending on Ten can be counterproductive – if Ten and Kyou Kai are out of the equation, Shin becomes a lot weaker. So he has to sharpen his strategy somehow.
Lastly, we will discuss the upcoming light hearted chapters which we predicted. Shin is 23 years old now. We believe he will marry or get engaged soon. Hara has already hinted his close relation with Kyou Kai. Kyou Kai even wants to bear Shin’s child. So we can look forward to Shin x Kai, the favorite ship of Kingdom fans.
Kingdom 642 Raw Scans and Release Date:
After a month-long wait since First May Day, Chapter 642 is scheduled to release its raw scans on 4th June 2020. The raw version of the chapter will be in Japanese and it will take scanlators less than 30 hours to translate it.

As we all know the Kingdom Anime is on a hiatus after it’s fourth episode and now fans are eagerly waiting for the release of the fifth Episode. There have been no news regarding the ongoing hiatus and the release date of the upcoming Episode.

Kingdom Premise:
Serialized in Weekly Young Jump magazine of Shueisha, Kingdom is the magnum opus of Yasuhisa Hara. It is one of the most popular seinen titles ever and one of the top five bestselling seinen manga. Having amassed a massive 64 million sales figure, it boasts of a great anime adaptation and a live action adaptation too. It remains at the top ten in sales charts even a month after its release!
While Kingdom is definitely a fictional story, it is based on true events. It is a dramatized version of the Warring States Period in China. It is mainly centered around Li Xin, one of the most prominent Generals of that Period. It’s deuteragonist is King Ying Zheng – the one who unified all of the warring states – the first Emperor of a Unified China.
Xin, or Shin, was an orphan boy who dreamt of becoming the Greatest General under the Heavens. Along with his friend Piao, or Hyou, they dreamt and trained together. However, after Piao’s death, he carried on the dream for both of them. He had a chance encounter with the then crown prince, Zheng or Sei. Shin agreed to become the sword of Sei and help him unify China.
