Billboard Japan released the list of most downloaded songs in Japan in 2021. Lisa’s Homura topped the list with 397,031 downloads. Homura is the theme song of Demon Slayer Movie: Mugen Train.
In the list, the song was followed by “Ussewa” by Ado with 294,207 downloads and “Dried Flowers” by Yuri with 267,351 downloads. “Dynamite” by BTS took the 4th spot in the list.
Lisa became the 1st female artist to top song download sales in Japan for 6 weeks. Lisa’s Homura also won ‘Song of the Year’ title in the 62nd Japan Record Awards. This title is the top honour in Japanese music industry.
Homura is Lisa’s seventeenth single. The song was released on October 14, 2020, by Sacra Music and Sony Music Japan. Lisa herself wrote the song with its composer Yuki Kajiura, with the latter also handling production.
The music video for the song was directed by Masakazu Fukatsu. The video features Lisa singing “Homura” on a solitary sea beach, against the backdrop of changing colours of the sky at the break of dawn.

The song was used as the theme song in Demon slayer: Mugen Train movie which became the highest-grossing movie worldwide in 2020. The anime by Ufotable gained instant popularity in 2019.
Lisa’s song “Gurenge” was the opening theme for the 2019 anime. Last year, Gurenge became the most downloaded song with more than 1 million downloads for the first time in Oricon’s history.
Even globally Homura left a good track record. On the week of October 24, 2020, “Homura” debuted at number 62 on the Billboard Global 200 and at number 21 on the Billboard Global Exclusive US charts. In its second week, the song reached a peak of number eight on the Billboard Global 200.
