Live-Action ‘Tokyo Revengers’ Sequel Film to Debut in Early 2023
Tokyo Revengers rose to fame due to its impressive anime and manga, but the franchise has one more thing that contributed to its popularity: the live-action film.
Although live-action adaptations are infamous in the otaku world, Tokyo Revengers beats the stereotype. The film portrays the story, characters, and emotions just as well as the anime and is now back with a sequel.
Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine issue 49 has revealed that the live-action Tokyo Revengers 2 film will be divided into two parts. The first part will open during Japan’s Golden Week holidays in spring 2023 and the second in summer 2023.
Its main cast and staff from the first part will return for the sequel, along with some new ones as the story progresses. The franchise will soon reveal more information regarding the film on its official website.
Since the 2021 film captured the Moebius arc of the manga, the sequel will most likely continue with the Valhalla arc. Given how crucial and big the infamous Valhalla arc is, the idea of making the sequel films into two parts seems better.
Most fans are familiar with the manga and the anime, so we all know what happens in the Valhalla storyline and why we all dread it. Manga readers have seen the horrors twice already, and I think the trauma has numbed us enough that the third time won’t hurt.
Moreover, the top-notch live-action cast and direction don’t help it either because there is so much more emotion in every scene. However, seeing Baji and others get the spotlight in the live-action would be really exciting.

Let’s not forget about the upcoming anime season we’ve been waiting for that will also continue with the Valhalla arc.
It looks like 2023 will be a challenging year for Tokyo Revengers fans with the new anime season, live-action sequel, and the manga’s finale.

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017. It is an ongoing manga that received its 17th compiled book volume on May 15.
The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.
Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leapt 12 years into the past.
