The movie was released in 127 theatres all over Japan on November 13, 2020 and managed to gross over 240 million yen in its domestic run.
If you are wondering whether or not you can enjoy the movie even if you are not familiar with the franchise.
Fret not, as the movie aims towards adult female audience outside of the fandom and is directed in such a way that anyone and everyone can immerse themselves in this coming-of-age animation.
The events of the film take place in the modern-day Japan, as three women from different backgrounds paddle through the rough tides of life.
One day, as fate brings them together at MAHODO, a magic shop featured in Magical Doremi, they all bond over having watched Ojamajo Doremi when they were younger.
The relatable events, the unpredictable accidents, and the fateful meetings. The movie is a blend of all, that connects with its audience and leaves them with an indescribable euphoria.
The cutesy references to the original series sprinkled around the movie, over the top animation, and the fantastic soundtrack serves as the icing on the cake and make every second of these 90 minutes of your life totally worth it.
The movie is still screening in six theatres across Japan, and you can check the list of those theatres on the film’s official website.
