Luffy Fights Kaido Over The Tokyo Sky in One Piece’s Volume 99 AR Movie!

The One Piece manga is like no other; with 23 years of history, the series has seen its fans grow from kids to adults.

Monkey D. Luffy and his swashbuckling crew’s search for One Piece, the greatest treasure, broke one milestone after another, due to the sheer volumes of manga in circulation and the number of anime episodes or movies.

However, what comes now is the most extraordinary milestone of them all!

Shueisha recently released the One Piece augmented reality movie to commemorate Volume 99 of the manga. They also announced that One Piece’s 100th volume would debut in July 2021.

The digital release for One Piece volume 99 was on 2nd June, followed by the paperback release on 4th June.

The nail-biting video truly puts the scale of the Wano country arc in perspective with Kaido and his lackeys wreaking havoc in Shinjuku, Tokyo. However, the Straw Hats are here to save the day.

We catch glimpses of the different characters throughout the video, such as Drake in his complete allosaurus form and Oden’s son Momonosuke, beaten and tied up.

Moreover, we witness the conflict rising as Zoro and Sanji and other Straw Hats fight off the Beast Pirates. With terrifying Charlotte Linlin, better known as Big Mama, patrolling the skies, the brave Akazaya Nine face off against Kaido.

The short promo warps up with Luffy attacking Kaido with his Gum-Gum No Red Roc.

Shueisha has also released special edition posters in many bookstores in Japan to encourage sales of new volumes.

In the released roadmap, we can see the details of all the volumes from 97 to 100.

With such a momentous occasion at hand, the One Piece fanbase is all fired up and ready to go! With the manga just shy of reaching 500 million copies in circulation, this might be the one last push it requires to become the best-selling Shonen manga ever.

About One Piece

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997.

The man who had acquired everything in this world, the Pirate King, is Gol D. Roger. The final words he said at the execution tower were “My treasures? If you want it, I’ll let you have it. Look for it; I left all of it at that place.” These words sent many to the seas, chasing their dreams, headed toward the Grand Line, in search of One Piece. Thus began a new age!

Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy also heads toward the Grand Line in search of One Piece. His diverse crew is joining him along the way, consisting of a swordsman, marksman, navigator, cook, doctor, archaeologist, and cyborg-shipwright, this will be one memorable adventure.
