“Major 2nd” Manga on Major Hiatus as Author’s Health Issues Flare Again
Just when fans thought that Major’s mangaka was on his way to recovery, it looks like his health is crumbling again. The ongoing Major 2nd Manga will obviously suffer the impact, and although it will not stop serializing altogether, a long break is on the horizon.
Major 2nd is to Major what Boruto is to Naruto. While Goro is the protagonist of Major, Major 2nd follows Daigo, who is Goro’s son.
Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine’s issue 45 announced that the Major 2nd manga will be going on a hiatus. Although Takuya Mitsuda has assured fans that the break will not extend to a year, the return date of the series has not been announced yet.
Mitsuda-sensei has taken frequent breaks in the past, each extending to several months sometimes. In 2018, the manga was on a five-month hiatus.
The genius mangaka has been suffering due to health-related issues, and he has noted that the current problem and the previous one are unrelated. Still, treatment and recovery will need some time.
Daigo might have the same dream as his father, but all the expectations that have been piled on him are making him lose his footing. When the manga returns from hiatus, we will again get to see Daigo holding on to his dreams.
As much as I hope that Mitsuda-sensei recovers soon, fans of the series will never resent the author for taking absences due to his health. I hope sensei takes adequate rest and continues the journey of Daigo.
