Manga Industry Grieves as Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Kazuki Takahashi Passes Away

Losing the creator of your favorite series feels like an awful heartbreak and is something that Yu-Gi-Oh! fans are experiencing right now.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a series that has impacted a whole generation. From collecting every card out there to never missing an episode, we have done it all religiously. To think that the creator of this amazing universe is not with us anymore is devastating, to the least.

Kazuki Takahashi, the mastermind behind Yu-Gi-Oh!, passed away on July 6, 2022, at 60 years of age. He was found deceased off the coast of Nago city of Okinawa by the Japan Coast Guard.

According to the Coast Guard, the artist was wearing snorkeling gear and visiting the area alone. The possibility of losing consciousness or drowning seems like the reason for his unfortunate death.

Voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda, who played Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh!, paid his respects to the late mangaka by sharing a picture of the famous Blue-Eyes White Dragon card.

Marvel also took to Twitter to express its sadness regarding Takahashi’s demise. The mangaka is also the creator of the Secret Reverse manga featuring Spider-Man and Iron Man traveling to Japan for a mission.

Fans of Takahashi Sensei’s work also paid homage and expressed grief over losing their favorite mangaka. Many shared pictures of their Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that reminded them of the happy times in their life.
