Manga Sadou ~ Manga de Yomu Sauna Michi, a semi-autobiographical manga by Katsuki Tanaka, is receiving a second drama, Sadou 2021. The live-action series will start broadcasting from 9th June 2021 on TV Tokyo.

Sadou 2021 will carry the theme of “distance and inheritance.” It will reflect on the distance created between individuals and their friends, families, society, past, and future due to the ongoing pandemic.
The original manga of the series finished serialization in 2019, and the first Sadou drama was broadcast in July 2019. The manga shows Atsurou Tanaka, who loves saunas so much that he travels all over Japan to visit different saunas.
His conversations with sauna-regulars like Mushio and Guuzen-san are also interesting.
We must keep in mind that the attitude towards saunas has changed ever since 2019 due to COVID-19. Saunas are also recognized as a communal place, and its dissertation reflects on the grave condition of society.
Thus, the upcoming drama will focus on some of the more grave aspects of society but from a unique perspective.
