Mangaka Battle Against Each Other in Shonen Jump+’s New Reality Show!
You have heard of dance, singing, or rap battle shows, but have you heard of manga battle shows?
Shounen Jump+ is about to achieve this feat as works of manga creators will be judged in front of the whole world in an attempt to choose “the next star manga creator”!
The show will follow the format of typical survival-based shows with MCs, teams, and renowned judges! In addition, the behind-the-scenes of manga creation will be revealed with fresh details!
MILLION TAG is the new battle audition reality show where works of up-and-coming mangakas will be evaluated against each other. The show will consist of 8 episodes that debut on 2nd July!
A brand-new teaser is also released to give you a taste of what’s to come.
It is a short trailer that reveals the participating mangaka planning and drawing based on their ideas. After watching the teaser, I’m sure that a new type of show is about to be unveiled.
There will be six teams competing for the grand prize. Each team will have a manga creator and a manga editor from Shueisha. They will be competing in 4 challenges.
Shonen Jump’s Manga School Opens its Gates for 2nd Term! Applications Out!
So what do you think is the award for the winner? 5 million yen ($45,000) and their manga’s serialization in the Shonen Jump+ magazine! That’s not all! Their manga will also receive a compiled book volume and an anime adaptation!
An anime adaptation is a mangaka’s dream, and the winner will get to grab this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It will be a cut-throat competition where only the most creative of minds can survive.
To add even more glamor to the show, two famous judges have been added for the final round! Chainsaw Man’s mangaka, Tatsuki Fujimoto, and Hell’s Paradise creator, Yuji Kaku, will be the final assignment judges.
Ayane Sakura is the MC for the upcoming show.
All the contestants have already been chosen and in just a few more days, we will be ready to witness an epic battle of wits with pen, brushes, and ink! (don’t forget the tablets and editors’ headaches)
