Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch Now Has A Sequel About MC’s Daughter!

When talking about mythical creatures like mermaids in anime, Mermaid Melody is a name that immediately comes to my mind. With action, mystery, mythology, music, and romance, this story has something for everyone.

It is majorly a music and fantasy-based story where a group of mermaid princesses fight off water demons with the power of music. The series is a childhood classic for many and I have some great news for all the fans!

Mermaid Melody manga sequel Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch Aqua will begin serialization on 3rd August in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine issue 9/2021.

The cover revealed Lucia’s daughter, the protagonist of the upcoming sequel. It also features her potential love interest. The names of all the characters will be revealed soon.

The series is known to be light-hearted and cheerful, so we can expect the same for the sequel. The whole franchise is also lowkey inspired by ‘The Little Mermaid’ with the whole mermaid and human falling in love trope.

The original series ended on a happy note with all the dangers of the sea destroyed by the mermaid princesses. It also shows Lucia and her love interest Kaito having their happily ever after.

The series might get a time skip or take off right after the conclusion of Lucia’s story and then go on to show her daughter’s growth. 

Or it can go a completely different direction by showing Lucia’s daughter as a grown-up. The twist can be about her not knowing who her parents were for the sake of character development.

There are many mixed reactions whenever a sequel to a classic is announced featuring the main characters’ children. However, that is not the case here.

Fans cannot be any more thrilled to get the sequel to one of their childhood favorites!

And so are we. Honestly, I feel like a kid again with this announcement and getting to see my favorite magical girls again!
