At the end of the last chapter, we All Might mysteriously go away from UA. Many were speculating a confrontation with Stain to be almost inevitable, but what happened in My Hero Academia chapter 326 was a bit unexpected.

He is going around to check on the hero-hating groups who refuse to join a shelter when he encounters his statue, which has been vandalized. This allows him to reflect on what he has done till now negatively.

As a shell of his former self, he encounters Stain, who refuses to acknowledge him as All Might. He explains how he is completely downplaying his contributions to society.

Stain presses on his point and explains even though society is in crisis, the embers of heroism he created will burn through the generations.

Be it in the heroes he influenced or the people he saved; everyone will remember the Symbol of Peace that is All Might. 

All the people in the story and the readers always saw All Might as an ideal for what a hero should be, an eternal figure of hope, no matter the circumstances. He may have felt guilty for what Deku was going through, but we never imagined that he would lose his way as a hero.

In the end, it wasn’t the power All for One gave him that made him the Symbol of Peace, but Yagi Toshinori himself that smiled in the hardest of circumstances to put the people he saved at ease.
