My Hero Academia Chapter 317: Deku Surpasses All Might And Leaves Him?

Deku is not the starry-eyed crybaby he once was. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, the latest chapter of My Hero Academia showcases Deku in a fearsome manner.

Chapter 317 features Deku seemingly making easy work of an assassin sent by All for One. It is pretty clear now that Midoriya is on par with some of the top heroes. He even claims to be on the same level as All Might at his hundred percent without the previous recoil. Maybe even stronger considering his additional quirks.

Between being a hero and facing his destiny, he has taken on the appearance of an anti-villain rather than a hero. He decides to separate himself from All Might, but that decision may come back to haunt him.

It is very clear that All Might sees the parallel in Midoriya, and now probably understands the feelings of those around him when he was at the top. But, this time he knows that the same choice may cause Izuku’s downfall.

All Might has fulfilled his role as a role model and a mentor in the story. Izuku now seems to be able to carry his own weight while helping others around him. He has taught him everything he could.

His separation from  Izuku, and being the potential weakness for him point towards a dark twist of fate for him. Deku has willingly left All Might’s side in order to protect him, but All for One isn’t sweet enough to overlook that.

The recent events leading up to Midoriya’s decision have taken a heavy toll on him and forced him to reevaluate his actions. Seeing Lady Nagant on the verge of death and the revelation about the Public Safety Commission has made him turn heel.

But that is not all, someone familiar has also made an appearance. Stain is back. But what does he want? Why was he following Deku and All Might? Is he now an associate of All for One?

About My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters additionally collected in 24 tankōbon volumes as of August 2019.
