My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 7 Recap:
The episode titled “Match 3” begins with Komori asking about Tokoyami’s throat, to which he replies that he doesn’t need her pity and will get medicine from Recovery Girl. On the other hand, Yaoyorozu is being carried by the robots to the school nurse.
Meanwhile, Aizawa (Eraser Head) and Sekijiro (Vlad King) decide to take an interval while the destruction from the previous match is taken care of and they prepare another sector for the fight. The students of both Class A and Class B discuss among themselves each other’s strengths and how much they have improved.
To which, Midoriya says that it’s not only the physical strength improvement that has enhanced their quirks, it’s the mental growth that has heightened their quirks too. Suddenly All Might interferes with Deku’s conversation and takes him away to talk in private.
There All Might asks Deku if he has noticed anything strange with his quirk, to which Deku replies with a no. All Might then says that he doesn’t remember his Master saying anything about spontaneous quirk activation. And that he plans to ask Gran Torino about this.
All Might also warns Deku about facing Shinsho carefully as he was the one who triggered the vestiges of One For All before. Bakugo interferes with their private conversation and asks if they are trying to reveal their secret to the public with their extreme closeness.
Then he asks Deku about One For All and after listening to his spontaneous quirk activation, Bakugo laughs and asks if Deku is getting weaker day by day as he is losing control over his quirk. Then Bakugo reminds Deku by saying that he has gotten stronger since their last duel.
Following this, the third match between Class 1-A and Class 1-B begins in a new area. Class A team has Shoto Todoroki, Mezo Shoji (Tentacle Hero: Tentacole), Tenya Iida (Turbo Hero: Ingenium), and Mashirao Ojiro (Martial arts Hero: Tailman).
On the Class B team, there is Pony Tsunotori, Sen Kaibara (Spiral), Juzo Honenuki (Mudman) and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu (Real Steel). Before the start of their match, Tokoyami reminds Todorki to uphold Endeavor’s reputation as his apprentice.
Listening to this, Tokodorki flashbacks to those days when he was forced by Endeavor to learn a technique that was only meant for him.
During this time, Endeavor was chasing a villain in the city. After catching the villain, Endeavor was thinking about how he wants to teach him a move and he also wants to prove that he is not his former self anymore.
While entering the battle area, Iida tells everyone about how he is motivated after seeing his brother’s recovery and that he will prove his mettle as Ingenium the Hero.
As soon as the match began, Real Steel started destroying everything in the area to make a clear battleground where he can fight Class A head-on without any cheap tricks.
His teammates tried stopping him and reminded him about the warning Vlad King gave them to keep the destruction minimal, but without caring any of that Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu keeps on destroying the area. His desire for a head-on battle was well received by Class A.
To answer this, Class A’s Shoto uses Heaven-Piercing Ice-wall to freeze every member of Class B on their tracks. And just when Class A thought of ending the third match by capturing all of them at once, Juzo (Mudman) used his softening quirk to turn the tables on Class A by freeing everyone from the ice.
Class B began their counter-attack, Kaibara (Spiral) uses his quirk Gyrate to take on Ojiro (Tailman) while Pony uses her quirk Horn Canon to take on Shoji (Tentacole).
And Real Steel slammed Todoroki on the ground. And Iida (Ingenium) was unable to move as the whole ground beneath him was softened by Mudman. Mudman said to Iida that he will not be able to move as he knows that Recipro Burst has a time limit.
While Mudman was going to Tetsutetsu to help, Iida recalls his brother congratulating him on the provisional license and also shares their family’s technique to tune up the engine.
Following which Iida tells Mudman that he has become a lot stronger and has been at full throttle this whole time. And the episode ends with Iida breaking out of the softened ground using his new move Recipro Turbo and says that for ten minutes no one can stop him.
