‘My One-Hit Kill Sister’ Debuts New Character-Centered Videos, Highlighting the MCs

The trope of the sibling rivalry (or “brother/sister complex”) is a popular one in anime, and the isekai subgenre in particular. Despite these two themes, there is a specific audience for “My One-Hit Kill Sister” who absolutely adores it.

Asahi Ikusaba and his older sister, Mayu, are isekai’d into a fantastical realm in this tale. Asahi learns he is no match for the powerful Mayu, who possesses all the cheats.

The Ikusaba siblings are introduced in three separate character videos available on the “My One-Hit Kill Sister” anime’s official website. The website also features the opening theme song for the 2023 anime, “Karei One Turn” (Splendid One Turn) by TrySail.

The first video in the series devoted to a specific character takes a look at Asahi Ikusaba.

The protagonist of the story is Asahi Ikusaba, who is the most helpless of the characters even after being isekai-d. Asahi was not granted any super abilities or shortcuts to help him succeed in the fantasy world.

Mayu, his older sister, has an unhealthy obsession with Asahi and a brother complex. Mayu, who is very different from her brother, is the subject of the second character video.

When Mayu is isekai-d to this world, she unexpectedly assumes the role of super-powered hero with access to every possible advantage. In a twist of fate, Asahi was the cause of her being whisked away to a fantastical realm when she pursued him there.

Mayu is both very powerful and very protective of her brother Asahi, which, in my opinion, is excessive. Since Asahi is already at a disadvantage in this world, the fact that she can kill terrifying monsters with a single blow only makes things worse for him.

The only person who can beat Mayu in a one-on-one duel is not a coward, but rather Mayu herself. The third character video features a formidable demon by the name of Kilmaria.

Kilmaria, one of the six great demons, controls both light and dark with equal aplomb. She is the only person who is not intimidated by Mayu and can fight on equal terms with her.

In spite of her reputation as a heartless demon, Kilmaria softens after being rescued by the Ikusaba siblings. She’s shocked by her siblings’ behavior and starts to enjoy the party they’re throwing for their friends.

The action makes up for the show’s use of cliches that aren’t popular in the fandom.

Ikusaba is one badass sibling, and if you can get past Mayu’s brother complex, you’ll find a fine warrior who provides some exciting action scenes.

My One-Hit Kill Sister

The anime My One-Hit Kill Sister is based on the light novel series by Konoe, “One Turn Kill Sister in Another World: I Started Living in Another World with My Older Sister.”

Initially released in 2019, the novels have since been adapted into manga (both of which will be released in 2020). Asahi and his sister are the protagonists of this story; they are the ones who are isekaid to a new world.

Asahi isn’t much of a fighter, but his sister has superhuman skills, making her the series’ true protagonist instead.
