MyAnimeList Boosted By Shueisha, Kodansha, And Shogakukan’s Investments
MyAnimeList, our trusted anime tracker and cataloger, is now getting a boost from some unbelievable sources!
Kodansha, Shueisha and Shogakukan, the big three publishers of the manga industry, will now back MyAnimeList.
The website has a massive collection of information about anime, and this funding will help it grow even more.
I cannot wait for the app to upgrade even more and launch some much-needed features that will increase interaction with the user.
MyAnimeList announced yesterday that Kodansha, Shueisha and Shogakukan will be investing in the website through a third-party allotment. The website will issue new shares that will increase MAL’s worth by $11.33 million.
Media Do, the parent company of MAL, and the Japanese investors will underwrite half of the amount raised. The raised fund will be used to expand the platform even more for users.
The features that MAL wants to focus on currently are: “speed and support advanced UI/UX features, multi-language support for databases and user lists, iOS and Android application improvements, and user communication tool enhancements.”
MAL will invest its funds and expand its platform to provide a smoother experience to both new and returning users.
Strengthening the connection between the Japanese content holders and the consumers will also be a significant step in its improvement.
MyAnimeList not only keeps track of anime but also manga, manhua, dojinshi, and Korean, and Chinese animations. Users can track how many anime they have watched and submit reviews for them.

The website opened a digital manga store in partnership with Viz Media and Kodansha in March 2018. MAL also incorporates its content ratings into HIDIVE since September 2019.
I am excited for MyAnimeList’s upcoming upgrades as it has been a trusted app for finding as well as keeping an account of anime. The extra funding will surely make it the best in its field.
