Natsume spends his time freeing all the spirits that his family had forced into servitude. What is especially attractive about this anime is its portrayal of a whole range of emotions.
As the viewer watches the anime, a feeling of serenity is bound to encompass them.
In each episode, Natsume helps out spirits in need, as well as dodges malicious spirits. The series’ cherishes its manner of storytelling.
An official website has been created to announce an upcoming anime for Natsume’s Book of Friends, which will be released in early spring of 2021.
The new addition to the franchise is named Natsume’s Book of Friends: The Waking Rock and the Strange Visitor.
The theatrical release anime will have two episodes: Ishi Okoshi and Ayashiki Rayhosha. Studio Shuka is producing the anime.
A new visual for the anime has been revealed.
The visual shows Natsume against the backdrop of the night sky along with Madara.

Plot
- Ishi Okoshi: Mitsumi is a small yokai whose job is to wake up Iwatetsu, the divine yokai, from his slumber. Natsume meets Mitsumi and decides to help her.
- Ayashiki Rayhosha: A mysterious yokai visits Tanuma every day. Tanuma and the yokai both have fun while conversing with each other. Natsume gets worried about Tanuma as slowly his health starts declining.

Natsume’s Book of Friends’ new anime will exclusively premiere in Japan. Although the anime only has two episodes, it is not called a ‘film’ by the official website.
About Natsume’s Book of Friends
Natsume Yuujinchou is a slice-of-life anime that follows the story of Takashi Natsume, a 15-year-old who possesses the ability to see spirits. This uncanny ability gave him a difficult and lonely childhood.
One day, he discovers a book that belonged to his grandmother. The book contains the names of those spirits whom she made servitude contracts with.
Natsume decides to free all the spirits of those contracts hence, making friends on his journey.
