We all know by now how Netflix remakes and adaptations of popular shows and movies turn out. And we are here to see if this one will be a banger or a letdown.

Netflix announced a spin-off/ remake of the fantasy and sci-fi movie Bright during its Geeked Week. It will be adapted as an anime film called Bright: Samurai Soul.

The visual features the two protagonists of the movie: Izo and Raiden. In the original movie, the two protagonists are known to have a strained relationship which gets better over time.

Bright, the original live-action, is a cop-themed movie based in a world where fantasy creatures like elves and orcs coexisted with humans.

It has Will Smith and Joel Edgerton in the lead roles. Smith played the role of the human LAPD officer, Daryl Ward. Whereas Edgerton played the role of Nick Jakoby, the first orc police officer and Daryl’s partner.

Netflix also revealed the staff that will be working on the film:

Coming back to the topic, the streaming website revealed the plot of the anime remake as well. Izo is a Ronin, and Raiden is an orc. Together they team up to take a little elf girl, Sonya, back to the land of elves in the Northern region.

The plot is much similar to the original live-action movie. The only difference is that Bright: Samurai Soul is probably set in the Edo period of premodern Japan. A time when samurai were common among the folks and were in the military.

The plot suggests that Izo and Raiden are either trying to escape or wash off the sins they’ve committed in the past.

The main antagonist of the film is an organization called Inferni. They are a cult who have faith that the ‘Dark Lord’ will return someday.

Bright wasn’t a very popular movie when it was released. It faced a lot of backlash and criticism from the audience in return.

People are very skeptical of the upcoming remake and are already trolling it a lot. Netflix remakes or original titles are infamous for getting heavy criticism and trolling everywhere.

Will Samurai Soul be just another name on the same list? What do you think? Do let us know in the comments!

The main plot will revolve around Inferni chasing the three for a special wand that Sonya possesses.

We cannot say if they will be able to stop the Inferni or if the movie will be a success. We can expect some twists and plot changes though.

But we definitely are excited for another samurai movie. I mean, samurai are cool so at least that good.
