Blue Period will mark a distinct break from the shonen or isekai anime that have been flooding the scene these days. With Netflix’s decision to stream the series weekly, even foreign fans can enjoy it with Japanese otakus.

Yatora’s tale is about his journey with art. Still, I find it very similar to sports anime, where the protagonist suddenly finds their talent and goes from amateur to specialist with enough effort and practice.
The wait for Blue Period will be over soon as Netflix has acquired its international streaming rights and will stream it overseas starting October 9, 2021. The anime will be released on Netflix Japan on September 25.
A new PV has also been released with English subtitles.
The trailer follows Yatora, who has a sudden awakening in arts. He is a boy who works hard and plays harder, but somehow his loneliness is cured only when he paints.
So leaving aside all his logical choices, Yatora decides to get into the Tokyo University of Arts, which has an arduous admission process.
“EVERBLUE,” the anime’s opening theme song by Omoinotake, is also previewed in the trailer.

Netflix Premieres Blue Period in October, Streaming and Broadcasting Schedule
Studio Seven Arcs animates the series, and all staff and cast members have already been released. The studio’s claim to fame is TONIKAWA, but the recently released trailers of Blue Period all point towards a good animation quality.
After reading the Blue Period manga, I’ve been patiently waiting for the anime, and its release date is finally within reach. With Netflix streaming the series, I’m sure Crunchyroll and Funimation will follow in its footsteps soon.
About Blue Period
The Blue Period manga is created by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and published by Kodansha. It was first serialized in Afternoon magazine in June 2017.
The Blue Period revolves around the life of Yataro Yaguchi, a highschool student. Yataro looks like a model student on the outside but fights with hollowness on the inside.
He is fascinated by a painting of the Art club and decides to take up art as a profession. His path is filled with obstacles, but he still expresses himself proudly with colors instead of words.
