Looks like Funimation is jumping into the anime film co-production market with their J.C. Staff produced Sing A Bit Of Harmony. The anime film is directed by the underrepresented Yasuhiro Yoshiura.
We’re happy to see something new from Yoshiura especially since it’s been a while for the Time Of Eve creator. Despite some familiar themes in the trailer, we’re looking forward to this 2021 A Bit Of Harmony movie release.
Sing a Bit of Harmony: Release Date?
Sing A Bit Of Harmony anime film is premiering on September 10, Thursday. The anime will be available to stream in the origins of Japan and soon to release in Canada and the United States. No more exact retails for the release had been announced yet.
Sing A Bit Of Harmony: The Plot
Off the bat, Sing A Bit Of Harmony looks like it’s straight out of the ‘Your Name,’ wheelhouse. That’s not inherently a bad thing. Moreover, it makes sense that Funimation would only want to opt-in on a production that has a pretty high chance of making some returns.
The story revolves around a transfer student and a song that brings joy to her and her classmates. In addition to Yoshiura’s direction, Code Geass creator Ichiro Okouchi is working on the script. So we might see some neat twists on the Your Name formula. Check out Sing A Bit Of Harmony Official Teaser here!

About The Director
Yasuhiro Yoshiura has taken home the “Excellence Award” at the Japan Media Arts Film Festival’s animation division for his work on Patema Inverted: Beginning of the Day.
Also, the “Best Anime Award” at the Tokyo International Anime Fair’s OVA division for Time of Eve. It’s a tale about a case where humans and robots can interact freely without judgment. In retrospect is one of the most underappreciated works of the past 20 years.
His 2013 offering Patema Inverted wasn’t quite as strong. However, it still offered interesting sci-fi concepts in a digestible package. Sing A Bit Of Harmony looks less like his bag especially. He’s been a historically competent enough creator where we can look past that.
