Nichijou’s Shizuka Furuya Returns to Voice Acting After 5 Years!
Voice actors are the soul of the anime industry. Without these actors, popular manga characters would never find a voice that brings them to life. These Japanese artists’ nuances make their characters so lovable and hard to dub in English.
Voice actors become extremely popular, voicing iconic characters throughout various animes.
- Yūki Kaji has voiced characters like Eren from Attack on Titan, Todoroki from My hero academia and Issei from Highschool DxD
- Hiroshi Kamiya is known for voicing Yato from Noragami, Law from One Piece and Levi from Attack on Titan
- Romi Park who has voiced Edward from Fullmetal Alchemist and Zoe Hange for Attack on Titan
- Kana Hanazawa, known for her work in Angel Beats as Kanade Tachibana, Akane Tsunemori in Psycho-Pass and Rize Kamishiro in Tokyo Ghoul
Shizuka Furuya, popularly known for voicing Nano Shinonome in Nichijou, announced on Saturday that she would return to voice acting.
Furuya had announced her retirement in 2015 after a collision with a truck in a traffic accident left half of her body paralyzed.
In an interview with Animate Times website, she mentioned that people were unaware of her retirement, including her fellow Nichijō voice actress Mariko Honda.
She noted that this was due to her locking her Twitter after announcing her retirement on the platform.
Shizuka Furuya has also received work offers from her former agency Production Ace. Her work includes
- Matsuko Arita in Another
- Nano Shinonome in Nichijou
- Uruchi Minaya in Maken-Ki!
- Rhine X1 in Robot Girls Z
- AUGA1 in Upotte!!
She has also performed the theme songs for Nichijou and Maken-Ki. Her return to voice acting has her fans excited and they can’t wait for her next character.
