SPOILERS AHEAD!This page contains spoilers from One Piece .

Chapter 1063 of One Piece gives us a rampaging Kuma on the hunt for the Straw Hat Pirates on Egghead Island. Just as Jewelry Bonney tries to stop Luffy from hurting her father, Oda cuts off the fight to bring us to something even more exciting than Vegapunk and Pacifistas.

Didn’t think that was possible? Then you haven’t read the latest chapter.

Marshall D. Teach has entered the scene! The last time we saw Blackbeard, he had announced in chapter 956 – after the Reverie Incident – that he wanted to “claim the prize” before the Marines could. In chapter 1059, we realize the “prize” meant Boa Hancock’s Devil Fruit.

In chapter 1063, Blackbeard, along with Burgess, Doc Q, Van Augur, and Stronger, who are amped up with new Devil Fruit powers, ambush Trafalgar D. Law and the Heart Pirates. Blackbeard is here to take all the rubbings/copies of the Road Poneglyphs that Law possesses!

What Devil Fruits does Blackbeard’s crew have?

Blackbeard has hunted down some insane new Devil Fruits for his Ten Titanic Captains, like superhuman strength, bizarre contagions, and teleportation.

1. Sick Sick Devil Fruit – Doc Q

Doc Q has the Shiku Shiku no Mi or the Sick Sick Fruit that allows him to infect people with any disease of his choice. He spreads a gender-swapping diseases on the Heart Pirates that forcefully flips the gender of the target. This is how we see Law as a hot babe with Bepo following in suit.

They find that Doc Q’s diseases are contagious, which means that had Doc Q infected them with a more dangerous illness, the Heart Pirates could well have been toast.

Law, who announces that a strong enough Haki can nullify Devil Fruit powers, manages to become the “antibody” to the disease, and the gender-bended crew soon turn back to normal.

2. Buff Buff Devil Fruit – Jesus Burgess

Burgess has the Riki Riki no Mi or the Buff Buff Fruit that grants him extraordinary strength.

In the latest chapter, he rips off an entire mountain from an island nearby and flings it at the Heart Pirates. If Law hadn’t used his Devil Fruit ability, Room, the mountain would have crushed them and it would’ve been game over right there and then.

If Burgess is indeed Blackbeard’s right-hand-man, superhuman strength isn’t the worst ability for him to have. He can protect Blackbeard as well as deal fatal blows. Burgess is a proper tank.

3. Warp Warp Devil Fruit – Van Augur

Van Augur has the Wapu Wapu no Mi or the Warp Warp Fruit that lets him warp space and use it for teleportation.

He is the one who teleports Burgess to the island which is beyond the Heart Pirates’ ship. This is how Burgess is able to reach in front of the Heart Pirates and throw the mountain at them.

Teleportation, as you can imagine, is an immensely convenient power to possess; it’s actually quite the gamechanger in most battles. Blackbeard being able to use teleportation gives him a huge advantage.

4. Horse Horse Devil Fruit – Stronger

Stronger, who is Doc Q’s horse, has apparently consumed the Mythical Zoan-type Horse Horse Devil Fruit, Model: Pegasus, which gives him the ability to flight.

He is seen carrying a grinning Blackbeard, who seems to be crushing Doc Q under his weight. Stronger isn’t that strong though, since he can barely fly with two these two on his back.

But an airborne Blackbeard is quite scary to contemplate.

5. Others

Apart from these four new Devil Fruits and their users, these are the members whose powers we already know:

Shiryu has the Suke Suke no Mi or the Clear Clear Fruit that gives him the power of invisibility;

Catarina has the Inu Inu no Mi or the Dog Dog Mythical Zoan Fruit, Model: Nine Tailed Fox, which allows her to transform into a nine-tailed fox at will; and last but not the least –

Kuzan/Aokiji, who is Blackbeard’s ally, who has the Hie Hie no Mi or the Ice Ice Fruit that grants him the power to create, control, and transform his body into ice.

Blackbeard Pirates vs. Heart Pirates: Who will win? What will be the outcome?

Blackbeard is bound to win against Law, since Blackbeard is not just a Yonko with two immensely powerful Devil Fruits, but he also has a crew which now has some souped up Devil Fruit powers. Law’s Haki and Devil Fruit is powerful, but his crew isn’t.

Law is going to get stomped, there are no two ways about it. He wouldn’t even be able to last against the Blackbeard Pirates before they got their new Devil Fruits.

The main problem is that the only real strong one among the Heart Pirates is Bepo. If Bepo goes against Burgess, his crew still would have to deal with the other members of the Blackbeard Pirates who now have crazy Fruit abilities.

Unless Law gets some backup there’s no way he’ll survive this. Kid and Luffy have gone done different sea-routes so they’re definitely not going to help.

Obviously, Law cannot die yet, because he is part of the D. Clan, as is Blackbeard. He will be an important character during the final battle.

Chances are, that Law will unlock his Conqueror’s Haki during his battle against Blackbeard. As he said before, Devil Fruit powers can be countered if one uses a great deal of Haki against them.

Law’s Ope Ope no Mi is a brilliant Devil Fruit but it cannot fight these many opponents with these many awesome powers all at once. The only resort is Haki, which Oda has made clear is much more significant than Devil Fruits.

Some fans have also suggested that Law will not just manage to escape alive with his crew but also take Blackbeard’s heart out, leaving him damaged or at a certain disadvantage.

I agree with this fully, especially if we consider the popular theory that Blackbeard actually has 3 hearts, symbolized by the 3 skulls on his Jolly Roger.

So, even if Law takes out one of his hearts, he’ll still have 2, which is already 1 too many, just like his Devil Fruits.

Another cool thing that might happen, is that Law, being a surgeon, might be able to find out what it is that makes Blackbeard’s body so special. This is great timing, since Luffy is bound to learn the history and secrets of Devil Fruits from Vegapunk soon.

Blackbeard and Law will also most probably tell us about the Rocky Port incident, and thus, about the God Valley incident.

The Rocky Port incident involved Ochoku/Wang Zhi, a former member of the Rocks Pirates, Koby, Teach, and Law.

Since Blackbeard kidnapped Koby in chapter 1060, we have 3 members who were involved in the Rocky Port incident, so we’re bound to get some new info before Law and Blackbeard finish their battle.

Whatever happens though, if the fight between Blackbeard and Law is off-screened, a lot of people are going to be heavily pissed.

Will Blackbeard get the Road Poneglyphs?

Blackbeard will most likely get 2 Road Poneglyphs from Law, the first one being the Wano Road Poneglyph that Law saw with Robin, and the second one being the Zou Poneglyph. If Kuzan is indeed working for Blackbeard, his attack in Totto Land would result in gaining Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph.

He also has Pudding so he can get her to read them for him.

Blackbeard’s main motivation is to acquire all the copies of the Road Poneglyphs from whomever he can.

He was expecting either Luffy, Kid, or Law to journey down this particular route and didn’t know who he would be fighting against. All he cared about is taking the Poneglyphs so he can get to Laugh Tale.

Meanwhile he had sent Shiryu and Kuzan to Totto Land to kidnap Pudding, who can read Poneglyphs.

This means, Blackbeard will have 3 out of the 4 Road Poneglyphs, which is a great way to raise the stakes.

With new Devil Fruits for his crew and the copies of the Poneglyphs, Blackbeard’s position as antagonist has been tripled.
