We saw in the last chapter that Lucci attempted to assault Luffy, but Stussy and Kaku warned him that attacking Luffy may start a war. Then Luffy saw how badly hurt Atlas was and assaulted Lucci. Akainu inquired about Kizaru at the Marine Headquarters and was informed that he had already gone for Egghead Island.

On Egghead Island, Luffy engaged in combat in his awakened form as Lucci employed his Gear 5. This shape resembled Lucci’s hybrid form a lot. S-Bear was sent to assault CP-0 by Sentomaru. With Bonney in tow, Jinbe and Chopper were spotted sprinting. S-Bear was being fought by Stussy and Kaku. From monitors, Nami and others were watching the combat.

When Vegapunk expressed interest in learning more about Gear 5, Nami informed him that dragon fruit possesses this potential. According to Vegapunk, Luffy resembles the deity Nika. Returning to the struggle between Luffy and Lucci, Luffy was grinning and seemed to be enjoying himself. He then launched a fresh attack, severely wounding Lucci.

In order to repay Vegapunk for taking care of him when he was in need, Sentomaru planned to take on CP-0, as he described to Luffy. While Sentomaru and Luffy were conversing, Lucci regained consciousness and shot Sentomaru with a revolver, critically wounding him. Luffy looked at this and was both startled and furious.
