Overlord Season 4 release date is going to be announced soon, Season 3 was incredibly successful for this franchise and its 100% sure that a season 3 is in the works and will be airing soon.
The Isekai genre is a relative newcomer. But it is undoubtedly one of the most famous ones out there. Starting with Sword Art Online, it blew up. It has many incredibly popular titles in its wing – Log Horizon, .Hack, Re Zero, Shield Hero, Saga of Tanya and so many more. Overlord is the ace hidden up its sleeve.
Overlord is an outlier in the isekai genre. Its Anti-hero main character, Ainz Ooal Gown is incredibly famous among current animanga fandom. His mysterious charm and absolute power are truly beckoning.
Besides, Overlord is not the typical man transported to another world story – it shows a man getting into a game which he knows very well and chooses to stay in it.
Overlord is actually a Japanese light novel series penned by Kugane Maruyama; it had its illustrations handled by so-bin. It has a manga adaptation done by Satoshi Oshio and Hugin Miyama. The novel is published in Enterbrain while the manga is published by Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace. They’re both licensed by Yen Press.
The Overlord anime was first aired in 2015. Back then, it did not have the popularity it boasts now. However, it is one of the series that spread slowly – it withstood the test of time. After the rise of isekai, Overlord found prominence and since then, it has been a profit for Madhouse.

Overlord Summary So Far
The year is 2126. A Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, or a DMMORPG called YGGDRASIL became wildly popular due to its highly interactive in-game features. After more than a decade of successful gameplay, the servers are about to be served.
Enter Momonga. He is an Overlord Skeleton type character and the leader of Ainz Ooal Gown, one of the strongest guilds ever. Most members have moved on from the game but Momonga decides to stay logged in until the servers are shut.
It is then that he finds out something is wrong. Even after servers are shut, YGGDRASIL stays – it exists in some other reality where the NPCs have been reincarnated as real life people. And Momonga is stuck in this game. Momonga sets out on a journey to gain information on the real world.
Momonga has nearly limitless power here. His journey is more like a domination of inferior beings. He protects, he searches and he is bound by no rule. He can be ruthless or benevolent. This is an epic tale of exploration!
The third season had Ainz dominate his challengers. He proved why he is the pinnacle of that world. Overlord Season 4 will focus more on it. Ainz gained power at an astonishing level. But he has to maintain it – the challenges keep coming.
In Season 4, Ainz has to govern Sorcerer Kingdom. It is an extremely challenging job and our hero has to show incredible talent to establish his absolute authority over it. How well will he fare? What challenges will he face? Will a villain capable of dominating him appear? We will find out soon.
Overlord Season 4 Release Date:
As of now, no official announcement or release date has been revealed. But we already pointed out the hints. It is only a matter of time before the announcement is made. We recommend following the Twitter of Yonkou Productions as he is an insider.
So far, Madhouse is facing some problems. You should know if you’ve watched the third season – the animation was subpar by Madhouse standards. Unless the anime is handed over to another studio, like One Punch Man Season 3, we can expect an announcement to arrive within 2020.
The Overlord Season 4 anime will probably be released in June 2021.
Overlord Season 4 Release Details:
Overlord writer plans to make around 17 volumes worth of content and after that, he will decide whether to end or continue. So far, the novel has 14 volumes. The anime has covered up to Volume 9 in its 3 seasons. Needless to say, there is more than enough content to make Overlord Season 4.
In 2019, the scriptwriter made a very important comment. It was in the AnimagiC 2019 that took place in Germany. He said that a ‘fourth season’ is “extremely likely”. That was back in August 2019. Since then, we believe creators have come a lot closer to decision. Scriptwriter Yukie Sugawara, illustrator so-bin and writer Maruyama had an extended discussion on it!
Now let us take note of a tweet from KSM. They didn’t release any concrete information obviously but it was more or less an announcement about the upcoming anime.
Normally, each season has 13 episodes. We can expect Season 4 of Overlord series to continue the pattern, having 13 episodes to cover 3 volumes of the novel. We expect Madhouse Studio to make it but there can be changes. Right now, Madhouse is having issues. The Producer, Licensor, Studio has been consistently Kadokawa, Funimation, and Madhouse respectively. It is unlikely to change in the future.
Season 4 Cast:
We don’t know for sure who will be cast. But based on 3 whole seasons, we can make pretty strong guesses.
We expect Hino Satoshi to be back as Momonga. Hara Yumi will possibly reprise the role of Albedo. Other than that Uesaka Sumire, Nakamura Manami, and others are expected to return soon. We will update when there’s more information.
