Platinum End Episode 1 Recap
Here’s a recap of what happened in the previous episode of Platinum End.
The episode begins at school when a lonely young boy heads out after school. The boy considers stealing food from a store but instead decides to head to the top of a building to die. He jumps from the building in an attempt to commit suicide but when he wakes up, he finds himself floating in space.
The boy starts to wonder that maybe heaven and hell exist. When he opens his eyes, he sees an angel carrying him. This makes him think that he has died and is glad that at least he’s going to heaven. However, the angel glances at him and is relieved to have saved him in time. Mirai asks what she is talking about, and she informs him that if she hadn’t arrived in time, he would have fallen to the ground and died. He understands that they are still on Earth which means she actually prevented his death.
On the other hand, Mirai insists that she drop him and end his life. The angel responds that she has come to bring him joy. She reminds him of what he said before jumping, about wanting to be happy. Mirai understands he said something like that, but he has given up on life. Mirai discovers that he has been haunted by something since his childhood. The Angel informed him that she was aware of the incident. His entire family had died when he was only 7 years old, and he was forced to live with his abusive uncle.
Mirai is taken aback by the fact that she was aware of this. That was when Mirai had to deal with adversity in his life. Mirai realizes the pain and agony of living in his uncle’s place. He admitted to having no relatives or friends to the Angel. He adds that his life is full of pain and he doesn’t want to go on any longer.
The Angel then told Mirai that as a special-rank angel, she is showering hope over him. She escorted him back to the terrace and promised him freedom and love. Mirai is perplexed as to what she is talking about, given that he wants to die.
She promises him love and happiness and demonstrates her supernatural powers. She summons an Angel Arrow, which bestows love and happiness upon the recipient. She goes on to say that anyone who is struck by the Red Arrow will fall head over heels in love with him. Mirai had to make a decision about his life, and he began to believe her. Mirai warned her that if she didn’t give her everything, he would die. She didn’t think twice about telling him she’d give him all she had. Mirai feels relieved that they have a nice relationship.
