The original Baki series has been a staple of Netflix’s growth into the anime industry, often appearing as one of the platforms showcase titles.

Baki Hanma – Son of Ogre season 1 with its 12-episode series was a feast to the eyes for many and it’s a delight that it is coming back for more.

The Baki franchise confirms for “Baki Hanma – Son of Ogre” season 2. Netflix will exclusively distribute the series worldwide.

Baki Hanma season 2 will continue with the journey of Baki attempting to defeat his father, Yujiro Hanma.

Yet, before he defeats Yujiro, Baki needs to confront his wildest opponent, Pickle. Pickle is a primitive man that was found preserved in a saline rock.

The first season of Baki Hanma adapted the first two-story arcs from the manga series, The Combat Shadow Fighting Saga and the Great Prison Battle Saga.

Therefore, it is logical to assume that season 2 will continue this format and also adapt the next two story arcs, Pickle War Saga and the Warrior’s Struggle Saga.

Baki Hanma season 1 roughly adapted 10 volumes of the original manga series. The good news is that 37 volumes of the manga have been published in Japan, with the series officially ending serialization in October 2012.

This means that there is plenty of source material for at least another two seasons of the Baki Hanma anime series.

With Pickle coming into the scene for the second season, Baki’s fight against his father might just take a back seat. Though I must say, I’m intrigued to know what techniques will Baki use against a warrior from a bygone, primitive age.

Grappler Baki known as Baki the Grappler in North America, is a manga series written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It was originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion, and collected into 42 tankōbon volumes by Akita Shoten.

The story follows teenager Baki Hanma as he trains and tests his fighting skills against a variety of different opponents in deadly, no rules hand-to-hand combat.
