The anime is often considered a suitable companion piece for the Dragon Ball series. But its story is original and laden with humor, consisting of fight scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat.

Just like any other conventional Shonen series, Yu Yu Hakusho comprises of tournament arcs, overpowered villains, and heart-warming moments between the main characters.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced a live-action adaptation of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Yu Yu Hakusho manga. The series will make its worldwide debut through Netflix’s streaming platform.

The makers have not revealed the expected release date or other cast and staff details.

However, a report by CBR states that Netflix content acquisition director Kazutaka Sakamoto will be the Executive Producer for this project, along with Akira Morii producing for Robot Communications.

The original manga sold more than 50 million copies in Japan alone, making it one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s best-selling manga series.

Yu Yu Hakusho manga famously received an anime adaptation, and it turned out to be a rare case where fans enjoyed the anime more than the manga!

The TV anime was voted the best anime of the year in the 1994 and 1995 Animage Anime Grand Prix and comprises 112 episodes with only 4 reported fillers.

The live-action series is expected to be shorter and fast-paced compared to the anime, but the main plot will remain the same with some additional elements. We are still eagerly waiting for Netflix to release the cast details.

We know live-actions tend not to rise to a manga or anime’s level due to various reasons. But since Netflix is already known for other live-action adaptations, fans are excited to know how the actors portray their favourite childhood characters.
