While reading a manga, Iwatani Naofumi an otaku is summoned into another world. He becomes one of the Four Cardinal Heroes to fight the Waves of Catastrophe, The Shield Hero. As he started his adventure, Malty Melromarc, a former princess betrays Naofumi. Thereafter Shield Hero is regarded as useless and dishonest. Naofumi takes a slave Raphtalia, a Demi-Human girl. Raphtalia lost her parents in a wave and suffers from trauma. But Naofumi Cures her, teaches her to fight, and takes care. later Raphtalia helps him in leveling up and getting ready for waves. As waves are nearing, Naofumi has unlocked a number of shields and is set to fight the waves. Later Naofumi Acquires a monster egg, hatches into a female Filolial, but it turns this Filolial is not a normal one.

by the end of season 1, it was revealed that there are heroes from the other world as well, just as Four Cardinal Heroes. Naofumi was the only one who could barely stop glass’s attacks. As he fought he faced a dilemma: Does he really wants to save this world? later Naofumi was about to use Blood Sacrifice in order to defeat Glass, but as there was not much time left, and blood sacrifice could have killed Naofumi.
