Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning’s Trailer Teases Battosai’s Past; June Debut
Samurais are always cool and badass, but Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō is the story of the coolest one of them! Set in the Meiji Era in 1878, this series brings you the adventures of an ex-assassin, Himura Kenshin.
Kenshin, formerly known as Hitokiri Battōsai, is an ex-assassin trying to redeem himself for the sins he committed in the past. On his journey to redemption, he meets new people, some friends and some foes.
The second part of the final live-action series, Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō: The Beginning, is all set to hit the theatres on June 4th, 2021. The official website and Twitter account of the movie revealed a new trailer.
The trailer is full of action, and we see a different side of Himura in it as well. We can see a lot of other characters such as Yukishiro Tomoe and her brother Yukishiro Enishi.
Renegades’ by One Ok Rock serves as the trailer’s background song. The trailer is fully action-packed with scenes of Himura’s tragic past.
The movie will reveal how Himura got his iconic cross scar as well. The trailer ends with Himura covered in blood, holding Tomoe with the grave realization of his crimes hitting him.
Moreover, a new poster for the movie was also released.

The movie is a prequel to the live-action film series and was initially set to release on August 7, 2020, but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The movie is the 5th part of the entire live-action series and is the second part of the ‘final’ series. The series depicts Himura’s haunting past and its present consequences.
The first part of the final series called Rurouni Kenshin Saishūshō: The Final will hit the big screens on April 23rd, 2021. This movie will show us his past enemy coming back for revenge.

About Rurouni Kenshin
It is a Japanese manga series penned and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999. A TV anime adaptation was also broadcast to 1996 to 1998, and it even has an anime film along with numerous video projects.
The English manga version was published by Viz Media, and the English anime version was released by Media Blasters.
The story revolves around a former assassin who, after going against the feudal government, changed his name to Himura Kenshin and changed into a wandering swordsman who protects the people of Japan. He made a vow to never take another life.
