Saturday Night Live Sketch MacGruber Picked by Peacock for Series
The emerging streaming platform Peacock has announced an action-comedy series based on a parody sketch on the popular comedy show Saturday Night Live. Peacock has announced an 8-episode pick up of the series.
The SNL sketch was a parody of the 1985 adventure series MacGyver and titled MacGruber. The SNL parody was a recurring sketch on the NBC television series, first appearing on the show in January 2007. The SNL sketch has also been adapted into a feature film from the year 2010 which however did not receive a very popular response.
Will Forte will reprise his role as the title character of MacGruber and will also co-write and executive produce the series. According to Deadline, Ryan Phillippe and Kristen Wiig, who co-starred in the 2010 movie, could probably join the Peacock series.
