Shimotsuki Yasuie: Introduction

Shimotsuki Yasuie, commonly known as “Yasu the Hedgehog,” Tonoyasu, or just Yasu, was a taikomochi who lived in Ebisu Town, near Wano Country’s capital. He was the adoptive father of Toko.

Yasuie was the daimyo of Hakumai while the Kozuki Family ruled over Wano Country. Unfortunately, Yasuie sacrificed himself twenty years after Kurozumi Orochi’s conquest of Wano in an attempt to deceive the shogun’s warriors and allow Kozuki Momonosuke’s revolution to continue.

Appearance & Personality:

Yasuie was a short, slender man with a round head. He had a slight mustache on his upper lip, stubble around his jaw, and tiny blush marks on his cheeks. He was usually smiling, much like the other residents of Ebisu Town. Yasu’s face was considerably cleaner and less round 25 years ago, and he wore a dotted kimono with a dark robe over it. Shimotsuki Yasuie was noticeably taller than he was in the present plot.

Shimotsuki Yasuie: Death?

Yasuie was immensely popular among the Wano Country residents due to his remarkable benevolence and generosity since his leadership as Hakumai Daimyo.

Yasuie traveled to the Flower Capital during the Wano Country arc of the series to commit robberies and deceive the authorities into thinking he was Ushimitsu Kozo. Orochi’s forces apprehended him, believing him to be the thief in question. They carried him to the capital’s Rasetsu Town prison, where he would be crucified the next day. He was, however, relieved to see that the mob forming around him was beginning to realize who he was.
