Magically adept humans can take up the role of hunters, venturing through alternate dimensions to do battle with monsters and powerful bosses. Once the dungeon behind the gate is cleared, the hunting party can use their loot in the real world.
The protagonist, Sung Jin-woo, is widely regarded as the most feeble hunter in history. In spite of the stigma attached to him, he still takes part in dungeon raids to provide for his sick mother.
During a double dungeon run, Jin-woo decides to sacrifice himself so that his party can successfully exit both levels. When the hunter is on the verge of death, he unwittingly fulfills a hidden quest, transforming into a “player,” a special role that grants him the ability to independently complete quests and level up using a game-like system.
