Spirit Chronicles’ New PV Reveals Split Personalities Conflicting in Rio!

Can you believe there is an isekai light novel adaptation where the premise of reincarnation isn’t actually lame?? Yes, they exist and the upcoming Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles anime is one of them.

The premise of someone dying in a normal world and reincarnating in another world with a different body is often not done right. Often there are no consequences to reincarnation and the process is left unexplained.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles is one of the exceptions to this trope and it has just blessed us with a taste of their brilliance.

The official website for Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles has released a second PV for the upcoming anime adaptation. The series is set to premiere on July 5, 2021.

The PV shows Rio struggling with his split personality and his desire to be the best in the world. It also introduces us to the rest of the main cast such as Celia, Aishia, and Orphia. We get a glimpse of the walled royal capital and probably a world tree of some kind.

The PV also features the ending theme for the anime, “Elder Flower” by Aguri Onishi.

A new visual for the upcoming anime adaptation was also released.

It is always refreshing to see a new spin on an old premise, especially when the old one is so bad. Although we have seen the two souls in one body trope before, one of them is always a powerful being of some kind that provides power to the other one.

The human conflict between Rio and Haruto’s souls brings something new to the table. It will be interesting to see how they end up, will they merge into one or will one dominate and erase the other one?
