Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc Episode 7

Episode Rating: 9/10

This episode revealed that the werewolves were not real. Moreover, the village was just a front to cover up an underground base that’s developing chemical weapons. Honestly, this was a pretty well-crafted plot twist. Others brighter than me probably saw it coming far earlier, but I didn’t get it until the middle of this episode. I think it’s a bit absurd in the way Black Butler is known to be, but it’s also entertaining and exciting.

Something was weird about how the old crone named the chemical weapon “sulin gas.” I did some googling, and according to the Black Butler Fandom wiki, “sulin” is supposedly similar to “sarin” (the two are pronounced the same with a Japanese accent). Sarin gas is a real chemical weapon. It’s a type of toxic gas that targets nerves and is extremely lethal. I would surmise that earlier versions of “the curse” were mustard gas, which was bad enough. The new version – “the ultimate spell” – is industrial-grade nerve gas.

This season of Black Butler has certainly given me a lot to think about so far. I like the plot twist. I’m also continually impressed by the animation and art in this season. Cloverworks is really outdoing themselves. On a final note, I really love Sieglinde Sullivan as a character. Not only is she adorable, but I also empathize with her in some significant ways. I definitely see my younger self in her.

Kowloon Generic Romance Episode 7

Episode Rating: 10/10

Even though it had no scenes with Kujirai B, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Kujirai B and Reiko are my top two characters, but my next favorite is Miyuki, and this episode had a lot of Miyuki. I loved seeing the flashback where Miyuki and Gwen met and had sex for the first time. It’s a great romance. It’s interesting that Miyuki is questioning his gender and feeling dysphoric about being “neither man nor woman.” I hope he can embrace his identity, and I think having someone like Gwen in his life would help.

The other main event was when Reiko and Yaomay tried to leave Kowloon. They finally discovered that Kowloon is abnormal. It was demolished three years ago, and yet, as if by magic, the whole city “respawned.” But not everyone can see it. From what I can tell, Reiko is an entity generated by Kowloon. She might have stopped existing if she stepped out of the city, so I’m glad Gwen stopped her. This series continues to be one of the best of spring 2025 as it explores the theme of identity in different ways.

Lazarus episode 7

Episode Rating: 10/10

This was my favorite episode so far. It had a lot of beautiful ocean scenery, great music, important story themes, and good moments for most of the characters. While Eleina stayed and managed communications, the other four members of Lazarus split up and headed to the four sunken islands Skinner bought. They discovered that Skinner was studying a small population of Maldive natives who were immune to pain due to a certain gene. This research was probably critical for developing Hapna.

This episode struck a deep chord with me, since a good amount of my depression stems from the fact that humans have caused the Sixth Mass Extinction. I used to despise humanity back when I was an edgy, unmedicated Borderline Personality girl. That was largely because I literally wanted to die all the time. Now, after treatment, I want to be alive and I want humanity to live on for as long as possible. But to this day, I thoroughly sympathize with the sentiment that humanity should go extinct. I suppose this means Skinner is a radical environmentalist. That’s fascinating. I love this anime.

In addition to liking all five members of Lazarus, I’ve also been very interested in the character of Hersche. This episode had some important moments for her. It seems like she was Skinner’s wife, or at least someone who was in love with him. She also worked on the research on the Maldive natives, so she’s been connected to Skinner for a long time. She and Abel both seem to have known Skinner personally. I’m with Hersche in that I still hope Skinner wants to be found and won’t truly end humanity.

Your Forma Episode 7

Episode Rating: 8/10

Episode 7 was a solid episode with some action, good visuals, and an intriguing mystery. Harold’s ability to defy the Laws of Respect saved the day. He was able to use a gun to shoot open the door and get Echika to safety before she died. My biggest complaint about this episode that is that it killed Ganache the cat. Rest in peace, adorable kitty.

I’m so glad Harold and Echika talked about their feelings and admitted that they’re interested in each other. It sounds like romance to me. As for this mystery with E, I think the spy is probably Raissa. As for the actual identity of E, Echika is probably right that it’s an AI. We’ll hopefully see the conclusion of this mystery in the next episode.

~Thanks for reading~
