Contrary to other fantasy anime, the protagonist of this series is nowhere near a talented hero. Saybil, with his ineptitude to use magic, runs the risk of getting thrown out of the magic academy.
The anime’s second trailer previews the opening theme song “dawn of infinity” from the duo fripSide. Check it out below!
The trailer depicts a dark atmosphere where war is still raging. It also shows Saybil entering the Kingdom of Wenias’ College of Magic while Loux Krystas gets boosted with magic as she faces her enemies.
Saybil and his friends are sent on a mission where they face numerous obstacles. He nearly escapes death while being on the mission.
Another queer thing about Saybil is that he has no memories of his past few years and he wishes to know them, which seems troublesome.
“The Dawn of the Witch’s” opening theme song “dawn of infinity” is performed by fripSide. They are well known for their performance in Black Butler, A Certain Scientific Railgun, and Ajin 2.

So many thoughts gush in and out of my mind as I watch the trailer. Will Saybil ever get to use magic? Why can’t he remember his past? Will he get to know them?
I’m hopeful that the series will bring more answers to my thoughts, while it quenches my thirst.

Mahoutsukai Reimeiki a.k.a. The Dawn of the Witch light novel series is written by Kakeru Kobashiri and will receive a television anime adaptation.
Kodansha published the first volume of the fantasy light novel with illustrations by Takashi Iwasaki under its Ranobe Bunko imprint in August 2018.
The war that raged between the Church and the Witches for five centuries finally ended in peace but a few short years ago.
Saybil is a magic student with no memories of his life before he met a mysterious silver-haired woman in an alley.
Now he travels with his teacher, Loux—another student, Holt, and the beast fallen Kudo for “special training”… but this field trip may not be as routine as it seems!
