While you wait for the second season, here’s a summary of season 1 to catch up on the events so far.
Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old Japanese girl, was ridiculed for her seemingly weird behavior. In an attempt to find a place called home, she sold herself for 5 million pounds at an auction. Her owner was a tall, masked gentleman.
The mysterious man reveals himself, and she is shocked to see his skeleton face. He introduces himself as Elias Ainsworth and explains to Chise that she is a girl with special abilities, a rare Sleigh Beggy.
Elias takes in Chise as his disciple and teaches her about the magical world and its know-how. As an apprentice, she meets Elias’s foster father Lindel and gets her first wand. She forms a familiar contract with Ruth, a black grim.
Throughout the season, she faces multiple trials to overcome. But her biggest challenge was when she met the experimenting maniac, Cartaphilus. Cartaphilus kidnaps Chise. As he is about to begin his experiments on her, she realizes her potential as a mage and escapes his clutches. Cartaphilus falls into a temporary slumber when he loses his energy after the fight.
In the last episode, Chise and Elias confess to each other and promise to spend the rest of their lives together.
The second season will explore Chise’s life as a mage and a Sleigh Beggy in detail.
