Maomao is home thanks to Xiaolan who taught her how to use the hairpins. The Apothecary Diaries Episode 8 will continue the adventure as she is back home but the trouble moves along her side by side and seems like it that she can not run from it. The next episode is set in the entertainment district she grew up around.
In the last episode, we saw that we were back to where the anime series started. All the characters from the very first episode were shown and thanks to Xiaolan, Maomao was able to meet his father after a long period of 10 months. Well, she was happy but things seemed kind of weird on his father’s side. There might be something we don’t know yet and it might get revealed soon.
Other than that, things went pretty smoothly as Maomao was easily able to lure that army officer with him and used the Three Princesses as her bait. Jinshi on the other side was unaware of Maomao’s homecoming and the news came as a surprise to him and he had a weird reaction to it and it would surely cause some chaos when Maomao returned to the rear palace.

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 7 Recap
The 7th Episode of The Apothecary Diaries takes us back to where all things started. Maomao wakes up dreaming about her father and her home. She slept until the afternoon the next day as some of the poison was still inside her system. She was bored and then waited for the Concubine to ask for some work despite being on rest for the day.
Gaoshun then brought the poisoned soup to Maomao and she went all detective mode with her techniques, she deduced that there were four people who touched that bowl of soup before it reached Lady Lishu. She then came to the fact that Lady Lishu was getting bullied by her own ladies in waiting. One of the four people who touched the bowl poisoned the food.
Maomao explained all the things to Gaoshun about how Lady Lishu is getting bullied by her own maids and gave him some examples. The condition of Lady Lishu is quite unique and she is very young and does not understand the things the maids are doing to her. Maybe this bullying is because she became a concubine at the age of nine and then the current emperor died and she became the concubine of the current ruler.
Gaoshun then explained the situation to Jinshi who was pretty tired because of the festival the day before. Maomao and Xiaolan were talking about random things and then suddenly Xiaolan told Maomao that she could use the hairpins she received to visit her home if someone agreed to accompany her on the trip. She then asked the army officer who gave her a hairpin.
At first, he was reluctant but when Maomao talked about the three princesses he immediately agreed to go with her and soon they left for her home. On the other side, Jinshi was busy with other things and when he came to know about this he was pretty annoyed and frustrated. Well, others were enjoying this and it is sure that this thing will cause some trouble in the future too.
When she arrived home she got kicked by the old lady we saw earlier in the first episode and all the poison from Maomao’s body got extracted. Then the officer left for the entertainment district while Maomao went to meet her father. She was happy as she was back to her home but it looks like there is more than what meets the eye and her father is keeping something from her as he said that her fate brought her back to the rear palace.
