The Boxer is an exceptionally unique webtoon of the sports genre as its name suggests. The story has beautifully woven the realities of life experienced by humans with the concept of boxing as its front.
The remarkable technique of story-telling which gradually builds up to each situation and event is what hooks the readers in.
The story is shown from the perspective of different people in the scenes thus giving a better understanding of the psyche of the characters. Although the story is mostly focused on one character as the protagonist, the other characters hold enough importance to contribute to the story.
With its one-of-a-kind plot, characters, and visuals, this stands to be one of the top-rated webtoons and we are very excited to see it being adapted into an anime.
Seeing the popularity of the manhwa series, we expect The Boxer Season 1 to be announced soon, maybe it will come around the same time as Tower Of God Season 2.

The story never fails to surprise you, even though there is the existence of a protagonist who will never lose, the fight scenes still keep you on edge. One thing which is well-received by fans is that the author could portray to its readers what they wished to portray through the story.
This deepens the connection between the reader and the story, thus making it an excellent choice to get an anime adaptation.
The story goes on to make the audience understand the concepts of life and death, by adding some light-hearted and comedic scenes, but also not holding back to delve into the depth of darkness and show the harsh reality.

But the only drawback is the lack of popularity. Though it is deemed one of the best, not many people know about this hidden gem which is enthralling to read.

The Boxer Season 1 Anime Plot And Trailer
The story starts with a genius teenage boy, Ryu Baeksan, who can go up against boxers much above his weight range and possess a unique fighting style.
On the other hand, there is another teenage boy, Yu, who takes all hits from bullying without reacting back to it. Being emotionally numb and finding no meaning in survival, he has become dissociated from reality.
Although he seems an ordinary 17-year-old, his remarkable dodging skills and senses are revealed when an old boxing trainer, K tries to punch him with all his might. K with all his years of experience in raising five champions immediately recognizes him as a monster who has superhuman fighting charisma.
He who was looking for a new boxer to train as a champion before he retires, rushes to take Yu under his wing after recognizing his talent, but Yu with his lack of interest in life, does not agree to it as he asks “Is it fun?”
K as a coach wants to train his new student better than his previous student so that he can receive achievements and win championships in any weight class and not only be bound to one class.
Yu accepts the offer to train in this sport as he is reminded of an incident several years ago, which drives him to get into boxing.
It goes on to show the abuses suffered by Yu in his childhood which developed his ability to perceive time in slow motion. By getting trained dedicatedly, Yu enters the world of boxing where he faces fights, and this time he needs to fight back to hold his place.
Focussing on the Jay, Fabrizio brothers, Coach K, Aaron, Ryu, Injae, and others by showing their stories and their journeys to where they are now along with Yu’s fights keeps things on edge.
Opponents’ life gets explored in-between fights as they get knocked down and try to stand up again to keep fighting, thus diving into concepts of life, but none of which matter in the boxing ring.
Fights get more violent as the story progress, and Yu gradually gets molded into a killer machine by his coach K who makes him emerge victorious in every fight despite the opponent. Yu’s character develops after each fight for better or worse.
Winning every fight, and conquering the 8 different weight divisions without getting hit even once, Yu proceeds to gain his 9th belt against the world champion, Aaron who is known to be ruthless in fights.
It was an intense fight as for the first time Yu gets hit by Aaron’s Kung-Fu Sonic Boom. In the end, Yu emerges victorious by mercilessly knocking down Aaron by punching him in the heart.
It concludes with Aaron laying unconscious on the hospital bed, and K disappears after Lion’s Boxing Club shuts down. The boxing champions achieve the lives they dreamt of and were living their best life. It ends with the message – The stars are shining just for ‘you’.
With Ryu and Injae’s fight starting in school. They face each other in the boxing ring after which Ryu apologizes and Injae tells it was a good match, thus becoming good friends.
It ends with Yu on his deathbed with Carmen by his side, Yu finally passing away at 84 after living a happy life, and Carmen saying that she was happy to be by his side.
