The Expanse: Season 5 To Debut On Amazon
The Expanse is coming back with season five on Wednesday, December 16th, 2020. In the recent New York Comic-Con, the showrunners made the announcement with a trailer and a press release. The award-winning series, created by the Academy Award-winning duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, was renewed for the fifth season in July 2019 and began production soon after, which is why it has not been affected by the COVID-19 lockdown.
The show, which aired its first three seasons on Syfy, moved to Amazon Prime after it was canceled by the cable network. However, binging the new season at one go will not be possible.
Only the first three episodes of the 10-episode long season five will be available to stream on December 16th. The remaining episodes will be released on a weekly basis – every Wednesday till the season finale on February 3rd, 2021.
Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper and the rest of the original cast are set to return to the fifth season which will focus on a new and interesting storyline that was teased last season. The last groups of human beings are leaving the solar system, to set up home in the earth-like planets beyond the Ring.
But the years of misuse and exploitation of the Belt will have some consequence. As the crew of Rocinante tries to grapple with the challenges that are thrown their way, the repercussions of their actions are far-reaching.
Fans of The Expanse will be happy to know that the show has already been renewed for a sixth season on Amazon Prime, even before the premiere of the fifth season.
The first four seasons of the sci-fi show are available to stream on Prime Video.
