The official Twitter account of the “The Irregular at Magic High School” anime has announced that the “Reminiscence Arc” will receive an anime adaptation. Details on the format are not yet known: we don’t know if it will be a movie or a TV anime. But a title has been revealed:The Magic at Irregular High School: Reminiscence Arc.
A short teaser was also released:
The anime will adapt the “Reminiscence Arc” from the eighth volume of the light novel series. The original series is by Tsutomu Satou and Kana Ishida.
Satou started the light novel series in 2008, which will be released under Kadokawa’s light novel label. In Japan, the series comprises a total of 32 volumes. The final volume was published there on September 10, 2020.
There are several manga adaptations of different story arcs by different artists. The series also inspired a film that was released in Japanese theatres in 2017.
The first season celebrated its Japanese TV premiere in 2014 and was created by Studio Madhouse. Last October, its second season started airing.
In addition, the spin-off manga “The Honor Student at Magic High School” (Japanese: “Mahōka Kōkō no Yūtōsei: The honor at magic high school”) by Yu Mori will receive an anime adaptation later this year.
Yen Press publishes the light novels in English. Here is how they describe the series:
“Looking at Miyuki and Tatsuya now, it might be hard to imagine them as anything other than loving siblings. But it wasn’t always this way… Three years ago, Miyuki was always uncomfortable around her older brother. The rest of their family treated him no better than a lowly servant, even though he was the perfect Guardian, watching over Miyuki while she lived a normal middle school life. But what really bothered her was that he never showed any emotions or thoughts of his own. However, when danger comes calling during a fateful trip to Okinawa, their relationship as brother and sister will change forever.”
