James Moriarty, the archenemy of Sherlock Homes in the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, plays a central role in this tale. In the manga, he and his younger brother are adopted by the Moriarty family, and William James Moriarty becomes the family’s surname after he is given up for adoption.

As early as he can remember, Moriarty has been preoccupied with eradicating the problems that result from England’s class system.

In the January issue of Jump SQ, the first half of the original manga by Rysuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi (entitled “Valley of Fellows”) came to a close. The Valley of Fear, the fourth and last Sherlock Holmes story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, inspired the name of the arc.

The original manga debuted in August 2016, and on August 4, Shueisha released the eighteenth volume of a collected edition of the manga.

Anime based on the Moriarty books premiered on TV in 2020 and ran for 24 episodes.
