The Spanish Princess Coming to Starz With Season 2 in October
The Spanish Princess is back for a second season and from the looks of it, the drama quotient is likely higher than the previous season.
Starz just released the premiere date and a new trailer for season two of the historical drama that chronicles the life of Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of England’s King Henry VIII.
The cast includes Charlotte Hope, Stephanie Levi-John, Angus Imrie, Harriet Walter, Laura Carmichael, Ruairi O’Connor, Georgie Henley, Elliot Cowan, and Alexandra Moen.
Season two of The Spanish Princess premieres on Starz on October 11th.
Check out the trailer here.
In its first season, The Spanish Princess returned viewers to the world of Tudor royal court intrigue.
It continued the story from the Starz miniseries “The White Queen” and the Starz limited series “The White Princess.”
In a first, it’s told from the perspective of women and also sheds light on the lives of people of color who were living in 16th-century London.
Teenage Catherine of Aragon, the strong-willed Princess of Spain, is promised in marriage to the English Prince Arthur. When he dies suddenly, the throne seems lost until she sets her sights on the new heir, the charismatic and headstrong Prince Harry.
It may not be the most historically accurate show but it does capture the deadly drama and complicated politics of the Tudor court.
In season two, the warrior princess is torn between her duties as a wife and as a soldier to England.
In one of the scenes from the trailer, we see the glorious moment of a warrior’s uniform wrapped around her baby bump as she gets ready to defend England.
“I will never stop fighting, ”
she says in the closing scenes of the trailer.
